AGRA: Hundreds of farmers made unsuccessful bid to block the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura on Friday in support of Bharat Bandh against the Centre’s contentious enacted farm laws.
The protesters were stopped by the police at Raya crossing while they were heading to e-way.
Later, they staged protests on the Raya-Hathras road underpass of the e-way and blocked traffic. Heavy police force was deployed all along the Expressway to prevent farmers from blocking it.

Bhartiya Kisan union state vice president, Buddha Singh, who led the protests said that they have observed bandh without creating problems for anyone. “We allow smooth passage to all emergency vehicles while staging the protest,” he said, adding that they understand problems being faced by others, but the government has not ready to listen to them.
Threatening the present regime, he said, “no government could ever face the resentment of farmers and the ruling party would also fail to do so.” They will be in power, if they address their demands else they will have to face the music.
Superintendent of Police (rural) Shrish Chandra said that farmers tried to block the e-way, but they did not allow to do so.
In the neighbouring district, Aligarh, farmers blocked Aligarh-Palwal road to protest against the farm laws. “We resorted chakaa jam to awaken the government, which has not been conceding to our demands for the past four months,” said district secretary of farmer union, Ravinder Chaudhary.
