Brothers Setareki and Bruce Hughes scored a goal each to give Rewa a 2-1 win over Navua in the Digicel Premier League clash at the Uprising Sports Complex at Pacific Harbour, Deuba, yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports, Rewa coach Rodeck Singh said the players have executed their job.

“We’ll have to work on some areas and learn to be disciplined,” Singh said.

“Our finishing will be vital for us moving forward and I believe we have the talent to do that. We didn’t score any goals in the last three rounds and to get it here is good.”

Navua coach Ameet Prakash said they need to work on their mistakes.

“We had a lot of goal scoring opportunities but we missed. The boys had 10 scoring chances but were reluctant to make an attempt.”

What happened: Both teams started strongly as they wanted to finish with a win.

Rewa settled down first and started pressuring the Navua defence. In the 23rd minute it was Setareki Hughes who slotted in the first goal.

The hosts backed by their vocal supporters never gave up and in the 42nd minute got a penalty and Vineet Chand slammed it to the back of the net.

Halftime: Navua 1-1 Rewa

Both teams came out firing trying to score the winner. Navua striker Thomas Dunn missed an easy goal in the 67th minute while veteran Rewa defender Peniame Drova’s attempt in the 75th minute just went wide.

Rewa kept their composure before Bruce slotted in the winning goal.
