KANPUR: The body of a 14-year-old girl, allegedly molested by a youth, was found hanging in her house in Rajpur police area of Kanpur Dehat district on Thursday evening.
Although police are treating the girl’s death as suicide, her parents have accused a local youth, his family members and their aides of murdering their daughter who was studying in class IX.

According to their complaint, the girl was being allegedly stalked and molested by the accused for the past several days.
On Thursday evening, when the youth tried to outrage the modesty of the girl, she and her mother offered resistance.
"Later, the youth along with his family members, including his father Radheyshyam and others, barged into their place and beat them," said police.
The girl’s father lodged a complaint with Rajpur police in this regard.
On returning home from the police station, he found his daughter’s body hanging from the ceiling in a room. He accused local police of a partisan approach and initially refused to initiate action against the accused.

“She would have been alive had the police arrested her alleged molester and his aides as soon as the incident was reported to them,” the girl’s father said.
Ghanshyam Chaurasiya, assistant superintendent of police (ASP), Kanpur Dehat, said, “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. However, on the basis of allegations made by the girl’s parents, an FIR against 15 people has been lodged under relevant sections of IPC."
The ASP added that two accused have been arrested and a special team has been constituted to nab 13 others.
"The allegations against cops are being probed,” he said.
