Federal report shows drastic increase in Missouri hospital supply shortages

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri's latest state profile report, formerly known as the 'Red Zone' report showed a 40% increase in hospitals reporting supply shortages.

According to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, the total remaining hospital bed capacity sits at 35%.

The remaining ICU bed capacity is at 26%, with 125 Missourians in the ICU.

Despite the increase in statewide shortages, Boone County hospitals are still listed as green status, which means they are operating within licensed bed capacity, accepting patient transfers.

There are 16 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Boone County. Of those, two are in ICU beds.

The state profile report showed Missouri did see improvements in new COVID-19 cases, however, reporting an 18% decrease with 4,021 new cases reported.

The report shows 19 counties with high community transmission levels, including four mid-Missouri counties.

Phelps, Macon, Osage and Maries Counties all reported high transmission levels along with metro areas such as St. Louis and Rolla.

Testing has gone down in Missouri, with the state reporting 76,399 tests conducted, a five percent decrease.

Deaths have seen a 10% decrease from the last report, with the Show-Me-State reporting 63 deaths.

Missouri's positivity rate ticked up 0.4%, to 4.6% in the state. As of yesterday, the Department of Health and Senior Services reported a 4.5% positivity rate.

This comes as the state dashboard reports 2,753,578 coronavirus vaccinations administered, with 1,739,965 residents initiating the vaccination process.

1,077,342 Missourians have completed vaccination.
