CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — DHL Supply Chain announced plans Monday to establish new operations in Cherokee County. The expansion includes an investment of more than $92.7 millions and is expected to create 249 new jobs.

DHL, a leader in contract logistics and part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, designs and manages supply chains.

DHL’s new operations will include development of a 1.3 million square foot warehouse at 600 Webber Road in Cowpens, increasing the company’s operating capacity.

“This almost $93 million capital investment is larger than almost all of 2020 last year,” said Exec. Director of the Cherokee County Development Board, Jim Cook.

Executive director of Cherokee County’s Development Board, Jim Cook told us this major investment is bringing with it, a lot of jobs and what’s expected to be a major boost to the local economy.

“Folks going from Charlotte to Atlanta see that there’s a lot going on in Cherokee County. They’re great jobs and that’s why we’re trying to get folks who are under-employed, telling them that these will be higher paying jobs,” Cook told us.

For the Cherokee County Administrator, he said this kind of investment puts them on the map for future opportunities

“We’re just fortunate to have such an investment in the community to not only the revenue it generates but also, bring some of the jobs back home where some of the people are driving to different areas for jobs,” Cherokee County Administrator, Steve Bratton told us.

The facility is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2022. Anyone interested in working for DHL is asked to visit WorkforDHL.com
