West Ham vs Leicester - LIVE!

West Ham came out on top in Sunday’s battle between Champions League hopefuls at the London Stadium - but they certainly didn’t make things easy for themselves.

David Moyes’ side were initially in cruise control despite the key absences of injured duo Declan Rice and Michail Antonio, with Jesse Lingard’s brace - continuing his remarkable scoring record on loan from Manchester United - and an effort from Jarrod Bowen putting them 3-0 ahead early in the second half.

However, the Hammers once again came perilously close to throwing away a three-goal lead, with Kelechi Iheanacho striking twice for Leicester to tee up a grandstand finish.

Ultimately West Ham held on to secure a win that saw them reclaim fourth spot in the Premier League.

They now sit just one point adrift of Leicester in third.

Lingard speaking to Sky Sports

"We almost made a mess of it at the end. It has been like that for three games. We are still learning. We take the positives and negatives from the game. We always start really good and on the front foot. I am picking up good positions, where the ball is falling. It's confidence, instinct, knowing players and where the right and left back and going to put it.

"It is great. We are in something to fight for. Games are like cup finals. We grind out the wins and take the points home. The lads battle on. There is a big belief in the team. We take each game as it comes, step by step for top four. It would be a brilliant achievement. First time in West Ham's history in the Champions League."

These last three games cannot have been good for David Moyes's heart rate.

Another needlessly frantic end for the Hammers but Moyes said in the week he'd be happy for them to keep winning 3-2 and they have done.

A huge statement in the race for the Champions League.
