West Ham striker Odubeko scores hat-trick against former club Manchester United
Published: April 10, 2021Ademipo Odubeko grabbed his first-ever hat-trick in the Premier League 2 as West Ham came from behind to defeat Manchester United 3-2 at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night.
Two teenagers of Nigerian descent were named in the starting lineup - Shola Shoretire for the Red Devils and Odubeko for the Hammers.
Odubeko spent three years at the United academy, where he had an amazing goalscoring record, before making the switch to West Ham in October 2019 after turning down a scholarship at the Old Trafford outfit.
Manchester United were two goals up after 54 minutes thanks to strikes from Mark Helm and Anthony Elanga.
On 59 minutes, Odubako pulled a goal back with a fine low shot from around 25 yards out, and restored parity when he curled into the top corner with 18 minutes remaining.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Odubeko netted the winning goal as his speculative shot creeped into the bottom corner.
The 18-year-old has directly participated in 12 goals (10 goals and 2 assists) in nine appearances for West Ham United's teams this campaign.
