Indiana State Police arrests man accused of shooting at Scott County deputy
Indiana State Police tracked down a man they say shot at a Scott County deputy.
The incident happened around 5:45 a.m. Sunday near State Road 256 and Terry Road, near Austin.
According to ISP, a deputy observed the man on an ATV run a stop sign.
When the deputy initiated a traffic stop, the man fled into a nearby field.
Sgt. Carey Huls with ISP tells WLKY the man stopped and shot at the deputy, who returned fire.
According to Sgt. Huls, it does not appear at this time that anyone was struck in the exchange of gunfire.
Police recovered the ATV after the incident.
According to Huls, police identified the suspect, Todd Lacey, 52, after speaking to residents in the area.
Indiana Conservation Officer K-9 Smokey helped officers locate Lacey nearly eight hours later hiding in a wooded area near the scene.
Huls says Lacey was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. and transported to the Washington County Jail.
