BAFTA honoured late actors Irrfan, Rishi Kapoor and Chadwick Boseman in their In Memorium segment at the award ceremony last night. Sean Connery, Kirk Douglas, Ian Holm were some of the other artistes who were honoured by BAFTA.

The 74th British Academy Film Awards honoured Hindi cinema’s two iconic actors, Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor, who died last year. BAFTA also paid tribute to actor Chadwick Boseman, who died battling cancer in 2020. BAFTA was held virtually over two nights for the first time due to the ongoing pandemic.

BAFTA paid tribute to actors Irrfan, Rishi Kapoor and Chadwick Boseman in their In Memorium segment. Sean Connery, Kirk Douglas, Ian Holm, and Barbara Windsor, George Segal, Christopher Plummer were some of the other actors who were honoured at the event on Sunday (April 11). BAFTA honoured over 40 artistes from the world of entertainment in their In Memorium segment last night. The video compiled to pay tribute to the lost souls began with Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died on April 9.

IRRFAN’S DEATH

Irrfan died on April 29, 2020, after battling cancer for two years. The actor was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 following which he flew off to the UK for his treatment. In a career spanning over three decades, Irrfan had featured in some noteworthy Bollywood as well as Hollywood films. He is best remembered for his films like Maqbool, Paan Singh Tomar, The Lunchbox, Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost and Madaari, among others. Irrfan had featured in Hollywood films like Inferno, Life of Pi and Jurassic World.

RISHI KAPOOR’S DEATH

Rishi Kapoor died on April 30, 2020. He was 67. The actor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 following which he travelled to New York with his wife Neetu Kapoor for treatment. He had returned to India from New York in September 2019. Bobby, Chandni, Amar Akbar Anthony, Prem Rog, Nagina, Mera Naam Joker, Karz, Bol Radha Bol and Damini are some of his films in which he played the lead role.

CHADWICK BOSEMAN'S DEATH

Chadwick Boseman, who played iconic role of King T’Challa AKA Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, died on August 28, 2020. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Da 5 Bloods, Message from the King, 21 Bridges and Marshall are some of his best-known films.
