No Covishield in three districts, Wardha runs out of Covaxin

No Covishield in three districts, Wardha runs out of Covaxin
Nagpur: Though inoculation picked up marginally in the division on Monday, Covishield doses — which are more widely used — were completely exhausted in Bhandara, Chandrapur and Gondia districts, while Wardha had no Covaxin stock left.
Bhandara, Chandrapur and Gondia have used up all their Covishield doses and didn’t receive any new stock but they have nearly 34,000 doses of Covaxin, which officials feel are enough for about a week at the current pace of vaccination.

The shortage was telling on the daily inoculation numbers as Chandrapur reported the lowest figures at 367, indicating the drive may have come to a halt in the district before the closing time. As on Monday, the division had 82,100 doses, including 31,290 of Covishield and 50,810 Covaxin.
The Nagpur division under the deputy director of health services (DDHS) recorded 20,525 inoculations on Monday. The figures jumped by 6,500 after coming down to 13,679 on Sunday.
As per the DDHS data, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) was left with just 17,400 doses of both the vaccines. The 13,780 Covishield doses were enough to meet two days’ demand while Covaxin doses (3,620) was good for six days.
NMC officials said they received 46,000 more doses by Monday evening, which means the immediate threat of the drive coming to a halt was no more there. NMC officials said the vaccination centres shall remain open on Tuesday, though it would be a holiday for other staff deployed in Covid management.
A top official said the inoculation had stopped at four centres due to lack of replenishment. Of the 10,318 inoculations in the district, over 9,000 took place under NMC limits. Officials said as response was good in the city, the doses were redistributed to the city, leaving rural Nagpur’s stock empty.
