NEW TODAYWeed Wrangle

The Morgan County Native and Invasive Plant Partnership will host a Weed Wrangle from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, at Burkhart Creek Park located near the intersection of Duckworth and Gray roads, northeast of Paragon. Volunteers are asked to dress for the woods and bring gloves. Free trees and wildflower seeds will be given to those who help.

APRIL Drive-through hog roast

A benefit dinner for Donnie Shelton will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 16 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, 1749 Hospital Dr., Martinsville. Shelton was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and all proceeds will go to his family. The drive-through will be at the swine barn. The meal will include a pork sandwich, applesauce, chips, a cookie and bottled water. Because of COVID restrictions, the meal will be prepackaged. Everyone is welcome to bring lawn chairs and outdoor goodies to tailgate around the swine barn. To purchase a meal, preregister at https://forms.gle/ukpAbDzsG97uAmMa7. The cost for the meal is donation based. There are options for cash, check or credit and debit card donations. Tri Kappa flower sale

Tri Kappa host its flower sale from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 30 at 1176 E. Jessup Way, Mooresville. Cost for flowers include $5.35 for 4.5 inch geranium pots or 4.5 inch lantana pots and $32.10 for 10 inch hanging baskets of petunias, begonias or geraniums. Sales are cash only and anyone wishing to pre-order are asked to call Lori at 317-519-2546 before April 10.

MAYCommunity Yard Sale

The Morgan County Community Yard Sale will take place on May 22 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, 1749 Hospital Dr., Martinsville. Space is still available. For more information contact Melissa Voshell at 765-349-9003 or Kathy Hazel at 765-342-9905.

Franciscan Alliance vaccination efforts

Franciscan Alliance recognizes the need to protect elderly Indiana populations at higher risk of developing COVID-19 infections. Food drive

The Morgan County Democrats are continuing to sponsor a food drive to help feed the hungry in the community. The group is asking people to bring non-perishable food items to 154 E. Morgan St., Martinsville. Non-perishable items may also be donated to Churches in Mission, 60 W. Pike St., Martinsville, or the Little Free Pantry at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at the corner of Home Avenue and Morgan Street in Martinsville. WRE Bible study

Veteran van volunteers

The Morgan County Veteran Affairs office is looking for volunteers to participate in the Volunteer Transportation Network to transport disadvantaged veterans to their VA appointments.
