Driver barrels through traffic arm to jump drawbridge

Daytona Beach police in Florida say a driver smashed through a traffic arm in front of the Main Street bridge Monday and crossed as the drawbridge was opening.

Cameras show the driver of an SUV, heading east toward the beachside, blowing through signals and the traffic arms that were in the down position.

The driver hit another traffic arm out of view of the camera. The traffic arms were both damaged along with the driver's windshield.

12-year-old gets stuck in a waist-deep sinkhole

A 12-year-old Canadian boy is recovering after a scary ordeal over the weekend.

Samuel Desjardins was walking home with a friend when he thought he was jumping into a puddle, but he soon found himself stuck in waist-deep freezing muddy water.

"My right leg went through, and it immediately went up to about half-way up my shin and then I kept gradually sinking from there," he told CBC News.

Samuel's friend tried to help him out, but he began to get sucked in, too.

Watch the video above to learn how Samuel was finally freed from the sinkhole.

Mama bear and cubs stop traffic

A viewer at our New Hampshire sister station, WMUR, shared an awesome video of a mother bear and her cubs in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

Sarah Leland said she was watching the group walk around in the woods in Merrimack, New Hampshire and when the mother crossed the road, the babies did not follow.

So, Leland pulled her car out to block the lane so no one could pass. All of the bears made it across the road safely.

Drone video captures a snowy spring day

It may be the middle of April, but that's not stopping Mother Nature from sending snow to some areas of the country.

Drone video sent to our sister station WCVB showed a coating of snow that fell in Massachusetts Friday.

While it may be slightly strange to see a springtime snow, it's not uncommon. The average date for the last measurable snowfall in Boston is March 29; however, snow has fallen in the city as late as May 10.

Take a look at the snowy scene in the video above.

A confirmed UFO

The Defense Department has confirmed that leaked photos and video of "unidentified aerial phenomena" taken in 2019 are indeed legitimate images of unexplained objects.

Photos and videos of triangle-shaped objects blinking and moving through the clouds were taken by Navy personnel, Pentagon spokeswoman Sue Gough said in a statement to CNN. She also confirmed that photos of three unidentified flying objects — one "sphere" shaped, another "acorn" shaped and one characterized as a "metallic blimp" — were also taken by Navy personnel.
