Full marks to the Rewa Football team officials for ensuring the health safety of their players.

Today, the officials are hopeful of taking the players to the Nuffield Health Centre in Tamavua, so they could be tested for coronavirus.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by Rewa team manager Lawrence Nath.

After their 2-0 win over Ba in the Digicel Premier League clash at Churchill Park, Lautoka, on Sunday, the officials ensured that the players were to undergo self- quarantine.

“We had contacted the Ministry of Health officials and have also passed on to them the players contact details,” Nath said.

He said the reason they took action was because they (team) had stayed at a hotel in Nadi on Saturday night before travelling to Lautoka on Sunday.

“We were taking precautionary measures for the safety of our players, officials, families and the community as well.”

Nath said some of their players who were members of the Fiji Police Force, could not attend work since they were under self-quarantine.

He indicated that there was a delay on Monday because they wanted everyone to be tested.

“However, some of the officials were tested on Monday and the result has come out negative,” he said.

“Tomorrow, we’re hoping of taking all players in for testing. We want them to be cleared so they could go on with their work.”

Meanwhile, Digicel Fijian Women’s football coach Marika Rodu has urged his players to use the 14-day break wisely.

Rodu said they had to break camp for everyone’s health safety.

“As soon as things get back to normal then we can continue on with our camps,” he said.

“We’ll have to camp frequently just to make up the time lost.”

The national team are preparing for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier.
