Powerball back in Idaho

Powerball players in Idaho, your freedom to play the game has been restored…at least for the time being.

Idaho lawmakers fearing foreign participation in the Powerball lottery killed legislation last month that would have allowed the game to continue in the state after a run of more than 30 years.

CBS 2 reports Idaho’s last Powerball drawing was set to be held in August.

But now, Jeff Anderson, director of the Idaho Lottery, says that the process “bogged down” between Australia and several Australian states to get the game going Down Under.

However it looks like Idaho will have to revisit the situation in 2022 when the U.K. and Australia are supposed to get started.

Idaho lottery officials have said the game generates about $28 million in sales annually in the state, with schools receiving about $14 million per year.
