The death of a covid patient led to fighting at a hospital in Ujjain. At least 12 persons, including doctors and policemen, were injured in the incident. Doctors alleged that the police had resorted to lathi-charge leading to injuries to 6-7 doctors and health staff. Police on the other hand said that someone from the group of medicos attacked a constable with an iron rod, causing head injuries, thus promoting the use of mild force to control the situation. Additional SP Amrendra Singh said, 'We are sifting through the CCTV grabs to ascertain what transpired. Once the sequence of events becomes clear, we will take further action.' RD Gardi Medical College director Dr Vijay Mahadik said the violence started when some patches of blood were noticed on the body-bag by relatives of a Covid-19 patient. 'They became violent and accused the hospital of removing organs. The relatives attacked the doctors following which police resorted to lathi-charge.'
