World Snooker Championship: Anthony McGill leads Stuart Bingham 9-7, Kyren Wilson & Neil Robertson level at 8-8

Anthony McGill produced some sensational snooker as he came from 6-4 down to lead Stuart Bingham 9-7 in their World Championship quarter-final.

The Scot, who beat defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last 16, hit breaks of 126, 83, 92, 130 and 75 to open up a two-frame advantage.

Bingham, the 2015 champion, contributed runs of 81 and 120 during a high-class evening session at the Crucible.

Kyren Wilson also fought back to draw level at 8-8 with Neil Robertson.

Resuming at 5-3 down after Tuesday morning, last year's runner-up Wilson edged a scrappy mini-session to level at 6-6 before a break of 126 put Australia's Robertson back in front.

England's Wilson won the next two to lead for the first time but third seed Robertson - who lifted the world crown in 2010 but has only been beyond the quarter-finals once since - won an important final frame of the evening thanks to a run of 66.

The pair will play to a finish on Wednesday morning at 10:00 BST, with McGill and Bingham battling to a conclusion in the afternoon from 14:30 BST.

Having lost the opening two frames of the morning session, only to recover to 4-4 by the close, Bingham appeared to have claimed control when he comfortably won the evening's first two exchanges.

But McGill rallied and although Bingham again edged ahead at 7-6, the 16th seed, who reached the semi-finals last year, won the session's final three frames in dominant fashion.

The afternoon action in Sheffield was of an equally high-quality as world number one Judd Trump and Shaun Murphy ended the first session of their quarter-final level at 4-4.

Every frame but one featured a run of 67 or higher as the pair traded big breaks, Trump nudging 4-3 ahead with a 105 before Murphy took the last.

Mark Selby forged a commanding 6-2 lead over fellow three-time champion Mark Williams in the afternoon's other tie.

Both best-of-25 games resume for their middle and final sessions on Wednesday.

Selby and Williams return in the morning, with Trump and Murphy back in action in the afternoon, before both matches are played to a conclusion in the evening.

Williams, 46, is bidding to become the oldest semi-finalist since Ray Reardon in 1985 but was blown away by breaks of 56, 121, 63, 90 and 76 from Selby, before the Welshman gave himself hope with a 111 to take the day's final frame.

The quality was just as high on the other table as the largest crowd of the tournament - with the Crucible increasing its capacity to 75% for the quarter-finals and semis ahead of a potential sell-out final - enjoyed some superb snooker with four former champions in action.

Trump, the 2019 champion, set the tone with an 87 break in the opening frame but fellow Englishman Murphy, winner in 2005, replied with runs of 80, 79 and 81 to lead 3-2 before losing a scrappy sixth.
