Odisha gets 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin, jabs for 18-44 years in Bhubaneswar from Monday

Disclosing this, additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said as announced earlier, Covaxin will be used in Bhubaneswar only. The state will wait for delivery of Covishield to start vaccination in other parts of the state, he said.

BHUBANESWAR: The state government announced to start vaccination of people in the 18-44 years age group in Bhubaneswar from Monday after it received a consignment of 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin on Friday evening.
Disclosing this, additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said as announced earlier, Covaxin will be used in Bhubaneswar only. The state will wait for delivery of Covishield to start vaccination in other parts of the state, he said.

“Vaccine slots will be opened on COWIN for sessions to be held from Monday. However, on Saturday, the state will have a trial, symbolic commencement of 18-44 years age-group vaccination, with vaccination of a token of beneficiaries, in view of the urban area lockdown,” he said.
In the ongoing vaccination of 45 years age group, 81,161 doses were administered on Friday, taking total doses administered so far to 58.57 lakh doses. For the 45 years age group, 256 sessions are planned on Monday. There would be no vaccination in Boudh, Koraput and Sambalpur. The state has 46,220 doses of Covishield and 3,21,630 doses of Covaxin supplied by the Centre for this age group.
