LUCKNOW: Barring minor incidents in seven districts, the fourth and final phase of panchayat elections conducted on Thursday, went off peacefully.
Additional director general, law and order, Prashant Kumar said minor incidents were reported from Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Mathura, Sitapur, Aligarh, Bahraich and Shahjahanpur. Results will be announced on May 2.
In the fourth phase, polling was held in Ambedkarnagar, Aligarh, Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Ghazipur, Farrukhabad, Bulandshahr, Basti, Bahraich, Banda, Mau, Mathura, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Sitapur, Sonbhadra and Hapur.

“We are happy that our force managed to do an excellent job during such trying times when so many people are struggling with the pandemic,” Kumar said.
Under Gahmar police station in Ghazipur, two groups supporting gram pradhan candidates had an altercation over fake voting. However, no one was injured in the incident. Similarly, under Birhona police station of Ghazipur, villagers created ruckus and pelted cops with stones. At least 14 persons were arrested in this connection.
In Mathura, 24 people were arrested for opening fire at the husband of pradhan candidate in Barsana.
A supporter of a pradhan candidate created ruckus in Imliya Sultanpur police station area of Sitapur when he did not find his name in the voter list. One of the opponents opened fire in the air to intimidate him.
Cops were attacked and their vehicles were vandalized in Vijaygarh police station area of Aligarh when the police tried to stop two groups from fighting. As many as 15 people were arrested.
