Vanitha, 32 , wife of Karthik of Pothuvakudi in Paramakudi union hails from a family of DMK sympathizers.
MADURAI: A woman in Ramanathapuram district chopped off the tip of her tongue on Monday to fulfil her vow that she would sacrifice her tongue to a deity "if DMK president M K Stalin became the chief minister of Tamil Nadu," sources said.
The incident happened after DMK emerged victorious in the assembly election. Stalin will take oath as CM on Friday.

On Monday, she was found lying unconscious on the steps of the Sri Muthalamman temple in Paramakudi. She was bleeding from her mouth. A portion of her tongue that she had chopped off as an offering was found on the step of the temple.
The woman was admitted to Paramakudi Government Hospital.
Chief medical officer of the hospital Dr N R Naganathan said the tip of her tongue was missing. Her condition was not life threatening, he said. Dr Naganathan said he had heard the woman had inflicted the wound on herself as an offering to the deity.
