SECUNDERABAD: With monsoon set to start in another couple of months, officials of the Secunderabad GHMC zone have begun desiltation work in open nalas covering all five GHMC circles, including Secunderabad, Begumpet, Amberpet, Malkajgiri and Musheerabad.
Desiltation work in an open nala at Nallagutta and Ambedkarnagar in Ramgopalpet GHMC ward is going on at brisk pace.
“Desiltation of the choked open nalas is part of a major exercise to avoid sewage overflow and flooding during the rainy season.
We have procured earth movers for desiltation work. We will then transport the waste to the dumpyards,” said a senior GHMC official.
