The government has made it compulsory to apply for an e-pass for movement during the curfew.
However, the home department on Wednesday exempted certain categories of people from applying for the e-pass.
These include those involved in industrial activity, medical and essential services and transport for the same, staff expected to be on duty for medical and health facilities and at industrial units, those involved in e-commerce operations, persons requiring to travel for medical emergencies, personnel of telephone, postal and internet services and media.
During this period, the government will allow industrial activities, weddings and essential services. Shops like chemists, groceries, surgical goods, fruits, vegetables and milk will be allowed to remain open.

All other shops will have to remain shut. Continuous process industries and those involved with manufacturing of sanitisers, medical equipment, masks will be allowed to function. No state transport bus will ply outside UP.
Meanwhile, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration has decided to issue e-passes to people who need to move in and out of the city.
On Tuesday, a team of six officials was constituted to deal with the applications for the e-passes. Awaiting further instructions from senior officials in Lucknow, sources in the district administration told TOI that movement to Delhi and other parts of NCR might be restricted again.
District magistrate Suhas LY said that a dedicated team has been appointed to handle the request for passes.
“We are going to follow the instructions of the state government. Since curfew in UP has been extended up to the morning of May 10, the team has been asked to start sorting the applications.”
While three senior officials have been designated for issuing the passes, the remaining three have been deputed to improve coordination, flow of information and supervision of the entire process.
The applications will have to be routed through -- rahat.up.nic.
“No visit to the collectorate or any other office is required. The entire system will work online,” added Suhas.
The order will be implemented in Ghaziabad also, and e-passes will be given to those who are eligible, an official said.
GB Nagar deputy collectors Komal Pawar and Amit Kumar Verma will issue intra-district and instra-state passes.
City magistrate has been nominated to issue inter-state passes and handle requests of people planning to visit other states.
“At present, we have not received any instructions on sealing the border the way it was done in 2020. As curfew remains imposed in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana, only random checking is being done at borders to discourage people from stepping out without a genuine reason,” said a senior police officer.
