Bengal govt not even 24 hours old and they are sending teams, says Mamata

NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday slammed the Centre over sending a team to probe post-poll violence in the state and said it's not even 24 hours of the new government and they are sending letters and teams.
Addressing a press conference, the chief minister also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to families of all those killed in post-poll violence.
"Under law and order by Election Commission, 16 were killed half of whom are from TMC and half from BJP, one was from Sanjukta Morcha," Mamata Banerjee said.
The TMC supremo further claimed that the central ministers were inciting violence in West Bengal.
"BJP leaders are roaming around, they are provoking. They are actually not ready to accept the mandate. I request them to accept people's mandate," she said.
A four-member fact-finding team of the Union home ministry, tasked with looking into reasons for the post-poll violence in West Bengal, arrived in the state on Thursday.
The team, which will also assess the ground situation in the state, is likely to visit several areas in the city as well as South 24 Parganas, Godkhali, Sunderbans and Jaggadal.
The BJP has alleged that TMC-backed goons have killed a number of its workers, attacked women members, vandalised houses and looted shops.
Mamata Banerjee rejected the charge and that the said violence and clashes were taking place in those areas where BJP candidates emerged victorious in the assembly polls.
