Hello, Morgan County! My name is Katie Roth, and I am excited to introduce myself as the newest Multimedia Reporter at The Fort Morgan Times and Brush News-Tribune. I just moved across the country from my home state of Georgia to help share local news stories in this community.

I discovered my passion for storytelling in high school and knew I wanted to pursue a career where my writing and photography skills would be well used.

When deciding which college to attend, I was torn between Colorado State University and Samford University. I ended up choosing the smaller journalism program in Birmingham, Alabama, with hopes I would have more opportunities to get involved in student publications and local internships. I focused my studies on print journalism and photography and spent all four years working on the yearbook staff as a writer, photographer and in editorial positions. I graduated in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications and a minor in design and communications.

I read about The Fort Morgan Times position and knew I couldn’t turn down another chance to move to Colorado. While I don’t have any personal ties to Fort Morgan itself, my love for Colorado runs deep. I have spent time skiing in Aspen and staying with family in Fort Collins. During the summer of 2016, I even worked on a Fort Collins based food truck called mac’n!

I am always up for a spontaneous new adventure and am looking forward to exploring Morgan County and meeting its residents. I can be reached at kroth@fortmorgantimes.com.
