Celtic are lining-up a top-level pre-season friendly against English Premier League outfit West Ham.

David Moyes ’ Champions League-chasing Londoners are set to travel to Glasgow for an encounter on Saturday, July 24.

Parkhead chiefs are working to unveil their successor to Neil Lennon, but are still pressing ahead with vital behind-the-scenes preparation work for the 2021/22 campaign.

Celtic are due to begin their own Champions League qualification bid in the midweek preceding the proposed visit of the Hammers with the second leg of their opening Euro tie the following midweek.

Ex-Celt Moyes’ men are also chasing a place in Europe’s elite competition as they sit three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who will face Manchester City in this term’s showpiece in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, Celtic have promised fans they're working day and night to appoint a new manager.

Eddie Howe is likely to succeed Lennon following his resignation in February.

The club broke their lengthy silence on the matter on Friday to deliver an update in an e-mail to season ticket holders.

The update said: "As a valued Celtic supporter, we wanted to provide you with an update on a few key subjects.

"The club is working hard to complete the appointment of the new Celtic manager and relevant football staff and will be doing all we can to confirm this as soon as possible to our supporters.

"Rightly there will always be a huge appetite for information from our supporters – unfortunately we are not able to make regular public comment on this matter, but we fully understand and appreciate the need to complete this process as soon as we can.

"We also acknowledge and understand the frustration of our supporters during this process, but our objective of course is to ensure that we secure the best candidate possible to take the club forward and this is our focus. We will update all our supporters through our club communications channels as soon as we are able to."
