ARA: In a bid to ensure safety of people amid Covid pandemic, the Bhojpur administration has adopted a carrot and stick policy. While on one hand, the district administration is feeding the poor and homeless at the seven community kitchens, it is also cracking down on those violating lockdown.
In order to ensure strict implementation of lockdown, sadar SDO Vaibhav Shrivastava was seen making announcements in the busy market areas of the town through loudspeaker.

Also, eight shops were sealed at Ara for violating the lockdown norms. Bhojpur DPRO incharge Rashmi Choudhary said 30 shops were sealed in Piro market. “The action was necessitated as these shops were either not allowed to open during the lockdown period or they exceeded the time limit of 11am,” she said.
The DPRO said 44 overloaded vehicles were seized by the Bhojpur district transport officer on Thursday for violating the lockdown norms. A fine of Rs 35.71 lakh was realised from the vehicle owners.
Bhojpur DM Roshan Kushwaha on Thursday held an online meeting with the MLAs and MLCs, apprising them of the action taken to curb Covid-19 pandemic.
Those who attended the virtual meeting included state agriculture minister and Ara MLA Amrendra Pratap Singh, Barhara MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh, Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad, Jagdishpur MLA Rambishun Singh, Agiyaon MLA Manoj Manjil and MLCs Radhacharan Seth and Ranvijay Singh. Bhojpur civil surgeon Dr L P Jha also attended the virtual meeting. The DM said more than 1.75 lakh people have so far been vaccinated in the district.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 communication cell set up by the Bhojpur administration has been providing assistance to about 150 home-isolated Covid patients each day.
