KATIHAR: More than 150 newly-recruited policemen have been given Covid vaccine shots till Saturday.
“Apart from administering vaccines to newly-recruited policemen, more than 2,000 frontline workers, including ITBP, BMP, RPF and other police personnel had been vaccinated in the district,” said district immunisation officer (DIO) Dr D N Jha on Saturday.
He further said, “As per the government order, the vaccination process at Katihar Medical College and Hospital and Radiant Hospital has been put on hold from May 1, whereas immunisation to the beneficiaries at MNREGA Bhawan was stopped for today only.
The vaccination for frontline workers, health workers, those in the age bracket of 45 and above as well as elderly persons has been underway at sites such as Jain Atithi Bhawan, Katihar Sadar Hospital, Ramnagar Sasia and the railway hospital," Dr Jha said.
"Over 1,65,140 doses were given to the people in the district till today, in which more than 35,600 received their second dose," he said, adding, “To replenish the vaccine stock, at least 10,000 doses of Covishield are expect by Sunday.”
