NRIs help Bhojpur admn in fight against Cov pandemic
ARA: When the Covid-19 pandemic has hit every district of Bihar, a few non-resident Indians (NRIs) are trying to help out the residents of their homeland. One such group, under the banner of Dubai-based organization, AmbedkarGlobal.com, have decided to lend their helping hands to the Bhojpur district. They, through the local chapter of Indian Red Cross Society, have sent various equipment and multivitamins to Bhojpur DM Roshan Kushwaha for using in the treatment of Covid-19 patients in the district.
“As we swear by the principle of Dr B R Ambedkar, we cannot be satisfied without the last man is served in the queue of the Covid warriors.
So, we are now planning to send PPE kits and other safety equipment to those informal workers who perform the last rites of the Covid victims at the various cremation ghats in the district,” said Ravi Chand, the founder director of the AmbedkarGlobal.com, on the phone from Dubai on Sunday.
Ravi, who belongs to Ara, said he felt it as his moral and social responsibility to help the native place in the period of the pandemic. “I contacted the Bhojpur DM, Sadar SDO Vaibhav Shrivastava and the Red Cross Society (Bhojpur chapter) secretary Dr Vibha Kumari. I asked them about the things we should send them as immediate help. While the DM suggested that oxygen flow meters are required in the district, the SDO sought some help to the nurses and the other frontline health workers. Accordingly, we have sent 50 oxygen flow meters besides 5,000 high-quality masks, 10 oximeters, PPE kits, multivitamins, surgical caps and sanitisers,” he said.
With a view to help the nurses, Covid ward staff and other frontline health workers, Chand had requested the DPM, health department, Bhojpur, to provide the number of such health workers. “They told us that there are about 300 such frontline health workers. We have promised to send PPE kits, surgical caps, sanitisers and high-quality thermoses and lunch boxes for them. We are also coordinating with a local organization for providing help to the Bhojpur administration to cope with the pandemic,” Chand said.
Bhojpur DM Kushwaha, while appreciating the help being provided by the organization, said in a press release, “In these troubled times of Covid pandemic, Dubai-based NRI Ravi Chand and other NRIs associated with the organization AmbedkarGlobal.com have sent masks, sanitisers, caps, PPE kits, multivitamins and oximeters through the Red Cross Society, Ara chapter. The dedication of the NRIs, who are attached to their native soil, is commendable.”
Now, the organization is sending help to Buxar district administration in its fight against the pandemic. “The shipment is likely to reach Buxar by Tuesday,” Chand added.
