St. Scholastica’s Schneider, Patten Take Home UMAC Tennis Awards

Schneider was named the UMAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year while Wells Patten took home his 18th UMAC Men's Coach of the Year honor.

DULUTH, Minn. – After taking home the 2021 UMAC Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship on Friday, senior Elliot Schneider was named UMAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year while Wells Patten was named Coach of the Year.

The Duluth native went 12-0 at No. 1 singles this season, going 4-0 in UMAC play. At No. 1 doubles with Jack Kearney, they went 8-4 overall and 4-0 in conference competition. Schneider now gives St. Scholastica seven straight  UMAC men’s tennis Player of the Year honors.

Patten earned his 18th UMAC Men’s Coach of the Year honor after leading the Saints to a 6-0 conference record. Patten has led the Saints to 24 regular season UMAC titles and 19 tournament titles, and will now prepare his team for the NCAA Tournament later this week.

Schneider, Kearney and Jake Jolowsky all were named All-UMAC selections from St. Scholastica. Wisconsin-Superior’s Gergo Potz Nagy, Michael Janes, Andre-Luiz Guedes and Jacob Zacharias all also received All-UMAC honors.
