A pair of lazy parents with a ludicrous £1,000 a month food bill have starred in a new Channel 4 documentary.

The couple buy 12 takeaways a month and spend £980 on online shopping.

As a result, they featured on new hour long Channel 4 doc How To Save a Grand in 24 Hours.

Aaron and Kayleigh Reid spend £1k a month on food, with £980 on online shopping every month too.

Self-employed engineer Aaron and hairdresser Kayleigh have also forked out on a production studio with three cameras set up in their home too.

The pair spend £230 a month on takeaways and as much as £700 a month at the supermarket.

The duo say they are susceptible to "repeat buys" - without looking at what is in the fridge or cupboard.

"I know for me I'm not great at going through and checking everything before I order more, our food shop arrives and I don't even know where I'm going to put it," Kayleigh told Anna Richardson.

Naked Attraction host Anna is at the helm of the show, and helped the pair trim their bills alongside chef Gary Usher and DIY guru Eve Humphreys.

The couple's cost-cutting gave them an extra £1322 in their pockets for the month by the end of the documentary, which aired on May 10.

How To Save a Grand in 24 Hours airs Monday nights on Channel 4 at 8pm with episodes also available online and on demand via the All 4 streaming platform and service.
