CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — West Virginia reported four new COVID-19 deaths and 314 new cases over the past 24 hours.
The death toll now stands at 2,821 while the total active cases is 7,157.
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 63-year old male from Raleigh County, a 43-year old male from Raleigh County, a 73-year old female from Raleigh County and a 78-year old female from Kanawha County.
“We remember today the unique burden the pandemic has placed upon children who have suffered loss of a family member,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “We must do all we can to support them and keep them safe.”
The state reported 260 people are hospitalized with the virus, with 85 in intensive care and 25 on ventilators.
There continues to be an increase of cases in younger people. Of the state's 2,484 cases over the past seven days, 659 of them are in the ages of 0-19, while 1,051 are in the ages groups of 0-29.
The state has administered 1,228,859 doses of vaccine, with 557,644 people being fully vaccinated. At least 669,338 people have received first doses.

Delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.
