Alabama’s Supreme Court Moves Forward in The Wrongful Death Lawsuit of Megan Rondini

<p>By WVUA 23 Digital Reporter Khara Gibson-Taylor</p><p>Alabama Supreme Court ruled last week that a wrongful death lawsuit against a man accused of rape by a University of Alabama student who later took her own life can proceed.</p><p>The court said the suit filed by the parents of Megan Rondini wasn’t barred by the fact that she took her own life.</p><p>The decision came as a federal judge is considering the suit against T.J. Bunn Jr.</p><p>The young woman accused Bunn of sexual assault before taking her own life months later in 2016.</p><p>The decision said Bunn maintains the two had consensual sexual relations. He was not charged with a crime.</p>

<p>Rondini’s parents, Michael and Cindy Rondini, claim their daughter was mistreated by Tuscaloosa County investigators, members of the university and medical staff at DCH Regional Medical Center.</p>
