A B&B in Scarborough has been crowned the best in the world in new rankings revealed by Tripadvisor.

(In fact, it's taken the title from another UK hotel, The 25 in Torquay, which previously held the accolade for two years running).

The Toulson Court has taken the top spot in this year's Traveller's Choice Awards, which are determined by B&Bs which received particularly outstanding reviews and have been praised for going the extra mile for guests.

The cosy hotel boasts eight boutique style bedrooms, all individually decorated and with ensuite shower rooms - and there's a mixture of twin rooms, double rooms and family rooms depending on the type you're after for your holiday.

In the Tripadvisor reviews, guests consistently praise owners James and Angela for offering a warm welcome, and the hearty breakfast appears to be a particularly highlight for those who have stayed.

During the pandemic the hotel has also introduced new Covid-19 health and safety measures, from hand sanitising stations to 'Grab and Go' breakfast options for holidaymakers who would prefer this.

The Toulson Court wasn't the only UK hotel to feature on the list - in fact it was one of five to make the top 25 rankings, four of which were in the top 10. (You can check out the full list below).

The Torcroft in Torquay, Dorset House in Lyme Regis, Torlinnhe Guest House in Fort William and Haven Cottage in Ambleside all also proved hits with guests who praised them for their cosy bedrooms, friendly hosts and charming extra touches.
