Emery High School has named Dave Justice head coach of the boy’s basketball program, it was announced Friday morning by principal Steve Gordon.

Justice, who previously served as an assistant under former head coach Todd Jeffs in 2019-20, will be the program’s third coach in three seasons.

“Dave has great, positive relationships with the kids,” said Gordon after the announcement. “The kids really love him and he is a true asset to the school and athletic programs.”

Justice is no stranger to athletics in Eastern Utah. After holding head coaching positions at Mont Harmon for both football and basketball, he made the transition to Emery High School, where he is also a teacher and assistant football coach.

“I’m extremely excited and humbled at the opportunity to coach basketball at Emery High,” said Justice. “I’m looking forward to working with the kids, parents and administration. I love Emery basketball and I’m looking forward to the upcoming season.”

Justice will take over a team that is expected to have a completely different look from this past season. Last year’s varsity squad featured a starting lineup comprised of five seniors.

The next step will be for Justice to line out his coaching staff ahead of summer workouts.
