CM Uddhav Thackeray on Friday urged sugar cooperatives in the state to produce oxygen, which has emerged to be vital in the fight against Covid-19. He was speaking after the virtual inauguration of an oxygen production plant of Dharashiv
Sugar Cooperative in Osmanabad. The sugar cooperative, the first in the state to start oxygen production, modified its ethanol project into an oxygen plant for Rs 1 crore.
It will produce
six metric tonnes of oxygen with 96% purity daily, said officials. “The state has set a target of producing 3,000 MT of oxygen a day to ensure there’s no shortage,” said Thackeray. “Our current production capacity is 1,200MT a day.” tnn
