Strict lockdown in Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru district

Amid surging Covid cases, Chikkamagaluru district administration has imposed a complete lockdown for four days — from May 20 to 24. Deputy commissioner KN Ramesh announced this in a press conference in Chikkamaglauru on Wednesday.

CHIKKAMAGALURU/HASSAN: Amid surging Covid cases, Chikkamagaluru district administration has imposed a complete lockdown for four days — from May 20 to 24. Deputy commissioner KN Ramesh announced this in a press conference in Chikkamaglauru on Wednesday.
While all commercial activities, and industries will remain closed during this period, milk parlours and medical stores will remain open.
However, according to the DC, there will be a total restriction on the movement of private vehicles. The public have to purchase milk from the nearest parlour.
Nearly 200 marriages are scheduled this weekend. While, only 10 people will be allowed to attend weddings, only five people can attend cremation. Those people visiting the district should undergo 14-day quarantine. For this purpose, DC also asked the district police to increase check posts at borders and collect details about people arriving from other districts or states.
Banks to curb work hours
Referring to the complete lockdown announced by the district administration on Tuesday, Hassan DC R Girish has announced an additional measure related to bank working hours on Wednesday.
“On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, banks are permitted to work from 8am till 10am only. On the remaining days, except ATMs, all type of bank transactions remain cancelled,” read the order.
Vaccination centre shifted
In a bid to step up safety, Covid Vaccination Centre at HIMS has been shifted to Government Nursing College behind DC Residency, BM Road. The beneficiaries are asked to visit the new centre for vaccine from Thursday, said officials.
