Malda: The
Mamata Banerjee government on Saturday rolled out its promised ‘Duare
Ration’ programme on an experimental basis at
Dobapara village in Malda’s
Habibpur.
Foodgrains delivered on doorstep earned enthusiastic review from beneficiaries. Satyen Mahato, one among them, said they were very grateful. “The chief minister has kept her word. She is supporting us when we are in (financial) distress,” he said.
Ration on doorstep was a part of the Trinamool Congress’ manifesto for the recently concluded assembly elections in Bengal. The programme has already been introduced in Hili block of South Dinajpur since Thursday.
In Malda, subdivisional food controller Ajijul Sk is supervising grain distribution. “We have chosen dealer Rajkumar Saha’s shop to pilot the project here. We plan to cover every block soon,” he said.
