Bihar: Cousins bitten by lovebug commit suicide by hanging from tree in Banka

PATNA: In a shocking incident, teenage cousins bitten by lovebug allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from the same tree in a jungle on the outskirts of village Badasan under Katoria police station in Banka on Sunday.
Kartoria police station SHO Neeraj Tiwari said that the deceased have been identified as Bablu Kumar Yadav, aged around 18 years and Soni Kumar, aged around 16 year.
“They are cousins in relation and were natives of Badasan village.
They were having an affair for the last several months,” he said.
Tiwari said that they had used nylon ropes to hang themselves from the branches of a tree. He said both went missing from their residences on Saturday night after which family members had begun to search but failed to locate.
SHO said that it was villagers who had spotted the bodies hanging from the tree at around 6.30am on Sunday after which police were informed.
SHO said that around six months back, the family members of both sides came to know about their affair after which the girl was sent to her maternal uncle’s residence for living while the boy’s parents sent him to Kolkata.
“However, there was marriage in the girl’s family at Badasan due to which she had reached there. The boy also reached three days back after getting information and finally sneaked out of their respective residences on Saturday night,” he said.

SHO Tiwari said that police have come to know that Bablu’s family members had started looking for a suitable girl for him to get married.
He said that both families have not pressed any charges against each other and are also not alleging any foul play. “The girl’s father submitted a written complaint that they were not matured enough to understand the situation probably due to which they committed suicide,” he said.
SHO Tiwari said no suicide notes have been recovered and police are yet to recover the their cellphones. He said bodies have been handed over to respective families after post-mortem.
