Noida sees lowest 1-day Covid tally since April 1, Ghaziabad cases lowest in May

Noida reported 53 new cases on Friday, the lowest single-day tally since April 1. The total number of cases stands at 62,170. The district also saw five deaths during the day, taking the toll to 439. There are 1,930 active cases and 428 people have been discharged from hospitals in past 24 hours. The recovery rate is 96% and fatality rate is 0.7%.

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Noida reported 53 new cases on Friday, the lowest single-day tally since April 1. The total number of cases stands at 62,170. The district also saw five deaths during the day, taking the toll to 439. There are 1,930 active cases and 428 people have been discharged from hospitals in past 24 hours. The recovery rate is 96% and fatality rate is 0.7%.
Ghaziabad detected 94 cases on Friday, the lowest single-day number for this month.
The district also reported three deaths, taking the toll to 432. So far, 54,819 cases have been recorded in the district.
As many as 151 people have been discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours and 52,430 people have recovered so far. There are 1,957 active cases. The recovery rate is 95% and the fatality rate is 0.8%. “Even if restrictions are relaxed, it is important to wear masks all the time and follow social distancing protocols,” said Suhas LY, district magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar.
For RT-PCR tests, the positivity rate is down to 4%. It was 53% in the first week of May. Dr Sanjeev Manglik, nodal officer for testing, GB Nagar, said: “We have ramped up testing in the past 10 days and the positivity rate still seems to be coming down.” Over 150 antigen tests were conducted in six villages of Sadar on Friday and no one tested positive.
In all, 14,180 people were vaccinated at 83 centres in GB Nagar on Friday and 16,023 people were inoculated in Ghaziabad that had 52 government centres.
An drive for media persons and their families will start at the District Combined Hospital from May 31. Parents whose children are below 12 years can get jabs at Delhi Public School, Meerut Road, and Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan, Indirapuram, from June 1.
