Uttar Pradesh: Four electrocuted in Sitapur during wedding function

Four people were electrocuted and four others sustained severe burn injuries when the pole of a tent under which they were standing came in contact with a high tension power line during a marriage function in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district.

LUCKNOW: Four people were electrocuted and four others sustained severe burn injuries when the pole of a tent under which they were standing came in contact with a high tension power line during a wedding function in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district.
The incident took place in Hanumanpur village under Kamlapur police station area in the wee hours of Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Mayaram, (52), a resident of Isipurpurwa, Ramautar (38), a resident of Govardhanpur, Ramchandra (40), a resident of Hanumanpur.

The identity of one of the deceased could not be ascertained, said the police.
"The daughter of Rajendra, a resident of Hanumanpur in Kamlapur area, was to be married to Vikas of Biswan area. The wedding rituals were going on late at night, in the meantime, there was a strong thunderstorm, due to which the marquee got uprooted and an iron pipe supporting it hit the high-tension wire. Seven people who came in contact got electrocuted of which four died on the spot," said Sitapur SP RP Singh.
"All the injured were rushed to district hospital, while four were declared brought dead," said Singh.
