Liverpool have avoided a potential showdown with Borussia Dortmund following Chelsea's Champions League win over Manchester City.
The Londoners won their second European Cup in Lisbon on Saturday with victory over Pep Guardiola's City, meaning they go into pot 1 next season.
By winning their Europa League final after a lengthy and dramatic penalty shootout in Gdansk on Wednesday evening, Villarreal will also go into Pot 1.
They will join the title winners from the highest-ranked European leagues - Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Lille and Sporting Lisbon.
Liverpool will be in Pot 2, alongside Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla and Dortmund, who move up from Pot 3 following Chelsea's triumph.

It means the Reds cannot be drawn in the same group as the Bundesliga giants and Jurgen Klopp will avoid a head-to-head with his former club until the last-16 stage at the earliest in 2022.
Bestikas, Dynamo Kiev and Club Brugge could be in either Pot 3 or 4, depending on coefficients and the results of the qualifying rounds later this year.
Celtic, Rangers, Red Bull Salzburg, Slavia Prague, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco, Benfica, Genk, Spartak Moscow, Olympiakos, Young Boys, Red Star, PSV Eindhoven, Rapid Wien and Galatasaray are among the clubs in the preliminary rounds.
