KRISHNAGIRI: A special sub-inspector (
SSI) of police was arrested in
Tamil Nadu’s
Krishnagiri on Tuesday for murdering his wife.
The arrested SSI has been identified as D Ramesh, 42, who was working at the Krishnagiri Dam police station. He was residing at the police quarters with his wife Rajalakshmi, 36, and two sons and a daughter.
On May 23, Ralalakshmi was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her homeRamesh told his neighbours that his wife had died of a cardiac arrest.
However, his neighbours informed the Krishnagiri taluk police inspector K Suresh Kumar that there was some foul play in Rajalakshmi’s death.
Based on suspicion, the police inspector sent the body to the
Government Hospital for postmortem.
“In the postmortem report, it was revealed that Rajalakshmi was strangled,” the inspector said, adding that there was a wound on the back of her neck.
Police said Ramesh confessed to having strangled Rajalakshmi during a fight. He was remanded in judicial custody.
