Imphal, June 01 2021:
BJP Manipur Pradesh executive member ex-MLA RK Anand has called for refraining from criticising the government but to join hands and cooperate between opposition and ruling to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The former MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC assessed a Covid testing site at Hiyangthang Kumari High School on Tuesday, which was organised by the district administration as part of its mass testing drive in for Imphal West district.
The exercise began from Tuesday and will continue till June 15.RK Anand provided hand sanitisers, face masks and cash to the local clubs and Covid Task Force of the locality, which are assisting the conduct of mass testing.
Interacting with media, Anand appealed to all to come out and get tested but not to hide their status.
The disease can be cured easily by following doctor's advice and taking the prescribed medicines, he said.
He also appealed all to strictly follow the Covid relevant SOP and to stay home.
People of the constituency are facing hardships in the absence of MLA as the local area development fund could be utilised in fighting the pandemic, he said, while drawing the government's attention for paying extra attention to the constituency.
Maintaining that CHICs in the district are not functioning effectively, he appealed to the government to give finance power to the DC, Adhyaksha and ZP members or entrust a ministerial team under the supervision of the chief minister to monitor and assist the people of the constituency.
On the other hand, the vaccination rate seems to be slow and the government should take up initiatives to speed up the progress by roping in the service of local clubs and organisations so as to increase number of vaccination sites.
