Haryana: Man sexually assaults, impregnates 12-year-old girl; booked

YAMUNANAGAR: The police have registered a case against a 48-year-old man in Yamunanagar district of Haryana for allegedly sexually assaulting and impregnating a 12-year-old girl.
The case has been registered on the complaint of girl’s father against Nathi Ram under Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and 376 (3) (punishment for rape on a woman under 16 years of age) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Radaur police station.
As per the information, the girl is studying in Class VI in a government school.
In his complaint, the girl’s father stated, “I lived with my family at a dera in the agriculture fields of a farmer. Nathi Ram had also been living on the same dera for the past six-seven years. On June 3, my daughter complained of abdominal pain and we took her to community health centre (CHC) at Radaur. After examination and some medical tests of my daughter’s health, the doctor told us that she is 19-week pregnant.”
“When questioned, the girl told us that she was sexually assaulted by Nathi in January this year when she was alone at home”, said the girl’s father.
“The condition of the girl is stable and she is admitted at a government hospital. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused. Relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) (Prevention of Atrocities) Act would be added to this case,” a police spokesperson said.
