For the first time in six years, the New Mexico Lottery Scholarship will cover full tuition for eligible students at all public and Tribal colleges and universities. According to a news release, increased revenues and state funding enabled the 100% restoration for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. The Lottery Scholarship paid full tuition for eligible students between 1996 and 2015 but was reduced after that to cover between 60% and 75%. In 2019, funds were distributed based on the projected lottery revenues and student enrollment at each institution. During the 2019-20 school year, more than 20% of college students in New Mexico received the Lottery Scholarship. To qualify for the Lottery Scholarship: Students must enroll at a public or Tribal college or university in New Mexico within 16 months of high school graduationAttend full timeAchieve and maintain a 2.5 GPA starting in their first semester
