1,056 black fungus cases in Haryana, toll 91

The tally of mucromycosis or black fungus cases in Haryana reached 1,056 on Friday. The state has also reported 91 deaths due to the disease.

The Haryana government has ordered 15,000 Amphotericin B injections, a drug of choice for treating mucormycosis.
CHANDIGARH: The tally of mucromycosis or black fungus cases in Haryana reached 1,056 on Friday. The state has also reported 91 deaths due to the disease.
Of the total cases, 154 patients have been cured and 799 are under treatment at various medical colleges and tertiary care private hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Haryana government has ordered 15,000 Amphotericin B injections to a company which had bided through the global tendering system.

This comes along with the order of 9,200 injections ordered through local resources and government of India allocation .
"We are totally in a comfortable position. From diagnosis and treatment, we are taking care of all the patients at our medical colleges. Similarly we are closely monitoring the patients undergoing treatment at private hospitals as well,’’ said Amit Aggarwal, additional principal secretary to Haryana chief minister.
"We had bent rules of tendering in the interest of the state and chose to order from the firm to avoid any kind of delay. We don't want our patients to suffer due to shortage of Amphotericin B," health minister Anil Vij said.
