Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu: One more district reports more number of fresh cases than Chennai

CHENNAI: After 37 days, fresh Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu dropped below 20,000 to 19,448 on Monday. The state reported 351 deaths.
With 2,564 new cases, Coimbatore continued to report the highest number of fresh cases in the state. The district also had the largest number of patients under treatment for the viral infection. On Monday, 29,262 people from the district were in the active Covid registry.

For the second consecutive day, Erode reported more cases than Chennai. The district had 1,646 cases, while Chennai reported 1,530 new cases.
Tirupur (1,027) was the only other district in the state to report more than 1,000 new cases. Salem reported 997 new cases. All these districts have reported a drop in the last 24 hours. On Sunday, Coimbatore reported 2,645 cases followed by Erode (1,694) and Chennai (1,644).
Salem and Tirupur reported 1071 and 1068 cases respectively. Sivaganga (115) reported the least number of cases followed by Ariyalur (193)
The case tally was revised to 22.5 lakh, and the death toll touched 27,356. After 31,360 people were discharged from the state registry, there were 2.32 lakh people under treatment for the viral infection.
