Coimbatore: Covid patient ends life in hospital

One Covid-19 patient and a man who recently recovered from Covid-19 in Coimbatore died by suicide on Sunday. Periyasamy, 63, of Tirupur, undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) slit his throat using a knife on Sunday.

COIMBATORE: One Covid-19 patient and a man who recently recovered from Covid-19 in Coimbatore died by suicide on Sunday.
Periyasamy, 63, of Tirupur, undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) slit his throat using a knife on Sunday.
“He had separated from his first wife, with whom he has two sons. He later converted to Christianity, remarried and has a daughter from the marriage. He separated from his second wife too and stayed alone.
He was admitted to CMCH for Covid-19 treatment on Saturday evening. He was worried about his family and seemed low,” a police officer quoting witnesses said.
Periyasamy was found dead at the new ortho ward of CMCH on Sunday.
In another incident, 59-year-old M Ramasamy ended his life at his residence near Rathinapuri on Sunday.
“Ramasamy and his wife tested positive for Covid-19 and were treated at a private hospital. They were discharged a few days ago. Ramasamy was upset since and hanged himself,” a police officer said.
