Thackeray said this at a press conference at the Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi, after a meeting with Narendra Modi at his residence.
The state delegation that included deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar of the NCP and PWD minister and Congress leader Ashok Chavan also raised the delay in getting governor’s approval for the appointment of 12 members to the state legislative council.
Thackeray said they discussed 12 issues concerning the state during the meeting, including increasing the ceiling on reservation that would benefit the Marathas and other backward communities.

On May 5, the Supreme Court had struck down reservation in government jobs and educational institutions for the Maratha community brought in by the Maharashtra government in 2018, saying it exceeded the 50% cap imposed earlier.
“The Centre has moved the Supreme Court on the said matter. With the reservation ceiling limit fixed at 50%, merely giving rights to the state to grant reservation won't suffice. That needs to be changed and we appealed to him that the Centre should argue this point before the apex court,” Chavan, who is also on the state cabinet sub-committee on Maratha reservation, told reporters.
The state leaders sought payment of Rs 24,306 crore in GST compensation.
When asked if the CM had a separate private meeting with the PM, Thackeray said: “Yes, I had a personal meeting with him without the delegation as well. ‘Main koi Nawaz Sharif se nahi milne gaya tha' (I didn't go to meet any Nawaz Sharif). Even though we are not politically together, we do share personal relations. I was officially meeting him as the Prime Minister of the country. What is wrong in it?”
