Maharashtra: Five held for murder bid in Mumbra

THANE: The Mumbra police arrested five persons with deadly weapons and foiled a murder bid on the complainant of a assault case registered with the Rabodi police station.
The police said those arrested are identified as Nizamuddin Rahimtulla Shaikh, 38, Mehmooz Zahir Khan, 29, Shakil Khan, 27, Moin Mehaboob Shaikh, 27 and Imran Harshad Khan @ Bunty Gharya 38.
The police said that one Shahbad aka Ramo Sayyed had complained about some persons from Rabodi of assaulting him and an offence under sections 323,504,506 and 427 of the IPC.
They wanted him to withdraw the complaint made against them with the police.
The victim was threatened to withdraw the case but he did not heed, the police informed TOI.
The police got a tip off that the accused persons were to come to Mumbra to kill the complainant.
The police laid a trap at Reti Bunder in the intervening night of Monday/Tuesday and spotted an autorickshaw in which the five had come with weapons.
The cops seized revolver, sword and chopper from the arrested accused.
An offence under sections 120B,188 rw 34 of the IPC and also section 3,4 and 25 of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act sections 37(1), 135 and Maharashtra Epidemic Act has been registered against the accused, the police said.
The local police are probing into the crime further.
