No account of 32 vials at Aligarh PHC: Probe panel
Noida: A two-member inquiry team from Aligarh health department has said there is no account of at least 32 vials of Covaxin meant for the primary health centre (PHC) in Naurangabad that came in news after vaccines meant for it landed up in Greater Noida.
While the in-charge of the PHC, Dr Rammiyya Pillai, has been transferred, services of a staff nurse Pushpa who used to maintain registers at the PHC have been terminated.

Officials said of the 579 vials that have reached the Aligarh PHC so far, only 547 have been used. When committee members Dr Anupam Bhaskar and Dr SP Singh, both additional chief medical officers in Aligarh, questioned the PHC staff about the discrepancy, they were told some vials were damaged and they had been thrown. “As per information updated on Co-WIN, the number of vaccines administered matches with the stock but the information in the PHC register seems to be incomplete,” an official said.
Aligarh chief medical officer Dr BPS Kalyani has ordered that the number of missing vials be recovered from those responsible for the irregularities. Two FIRs have been lodged in the case. Two inoculation camps were held at Greater Noida’s Jaypee Greens in May and doses meant for the PHC were reportedly administered to 187 residents. Both Aligarh and Greater Noida police claimed they are seeking the report of the Aligarh health department.
All five accused in the cases are on the run. Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Vishal Pandey said they will demand for a copy of the Aligarh department’s report. “All 187 vaccination certificates of the Greater Noida residents will be checked and the call details of those involved will be scanned to trace the movement of the vaccine,” he said.
Asked if PHC officials are under scanner, Aligarh SP (City) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said: “An FIR has been lodged against unidentified people for theft and vaccine misuse. The action of Aligarh health department is based on an internal report. We will demand a copy.”
